Intel certified ram on amd board

im curious about some details concerning this ram-mobo combination

Will This RAM (even though it is "optimized for i5 and i7) Work in a Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 or have any major problems in general

Yes it should work.
You are referring to standard DDR3 1600 memory.

The motherboard accepts DDR3 memory as it is an AM3 socket.

You may find that the motherboard defaults to 1333 and you will need to manually change the BIOS settings to get it up to 1600 speed.
