Yet, I often play them 4h a day 7 days a week... which is substantial. I don't think there is any one good, realible way, really.A flip-side of this is someone who wants to play the latest AAA but won't spend the cheddar, because they've read the reviews and know it'll play like garbage on their machine. So, that's why I'd think it better to be indexed by hours played rather than $ spent. Maybe publishers feel somewhat differently.
The publisher could have the game periodically "phone home" and tell it your license ID and hardware specs. In theory, anyway.
