I am looking to purchase a new laptop. I'm looking at the 13 inch macbook pro but concerned about the processor. Not sure if I should be. the 15 inch has the i5 processor and better graphics card. Not sure what would be best considring intel coming out with the 2nd generation i processors.

ARE YOU INSULTING ME BECAUSE I AM YOUNG????!!!! MAN, I HATE YOU NOW!! SUCH A MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding........ I was just doing exactly what you said I did... But yes, I do start arguments... But really, if you were talking about me, I will find you... :sol:

LMAO
no you were exactly who I was NOT talking about
that is why I put "nothing personal to the good kids"
in there specifically meaning you :)

btw how did you know my daughter was supposed to be in school
how did you know my time zome
if you are in Kent England it is rougly 630am right now
and earlier it was about 6-8pm or so when posting

so how did you know?

No, I do not live in Kent England, but I do live in Kent Washington. I just knew that any time-zone in America would be to early for a 9 year old to be out of school. Thanks for the complement.

Boy you are a smart one :)

were you on the computer all night?

dont worry I wont tell your parents LOL

I did the same thing at that age

actually I STILL do it LOL

I call it O.C.D.
"Obsessive Computer Disorder"
i have suffered from that disease
since my Atari Pong game console in 1978

Do you even know what the game
Pong or Breakout are?

I wasn't on my computer all night. I was on at around 11am in my zone. It's only 10:24PM here. I know what pong is, but not breakout. Nice O.C.D. explanation. Thanks for calling me smart! 😉

Yea thats right I was confused
I was figuring on london time

breakout was blocks at top of screen
with a side to side paddle and you bounced the ball
so you would take out the bricks one by one

for a laugh you should download a copy
I am sure it is freeware by now LOL

I download a freeware Zork text adventure (no graphics)
for fun
that game goes so far back
great simulated Artificial Intelligence engine
you could write almost anything and it would have a response
no graphics but I wouldnt want to code it LOL

Actually, I think I have played breakout. I played Zork on COD:BO. There is a mini-game of it. I didn't really get it. It just kept saying the computer didn't know the words I put in... It made me angry and confused. More confused than anything really... I looked up youtube tutorials and didn't find much.

homework time at 1030 at night!!!

sorry that is the dad in me :)

No havent played SC2
I want to but I am sure it would be really pushing my system
too hard with big battles with alot of ships

C2D 2.93ghz
4gb ddr2-800
HD4650 1gb OCd

I dont want to buy it and not run it right
is there a playable demo out for free download?
I havent got a chance to check

My next upgrade is HD5670 512mb GDDR5 or HD6570 1gb DDR2
not sure yet
what do you think
you are more knowledgeable about current tech
i like the GDDR5 of the 5670 but the 6570 is newer
somebody else said it the 6570 is ten percent faster
those are my two options due to 280w (about 350w max) psu
and crappy Dell low profile case 🙁
DONT tell me to do new build
I will puke

Okay, first off, build a new system... JUST KIDDING! SC2 isn't that hard to run. The ONLY thing that would hold you back is your RAM is HUUUUUUGGGGGGGGEEEEEEE battles, which I haven't even run into and I have your same RAM. Well, PNY 800Mhz RAM 2x2gb. I don't know much about the hd6570, but I would wait. I saw your thread about them, and that guy wasn't even sure. With the new 6xxx series, the 6850 isn't better than the 5850, the 6870 isn't better than the 5870, etc. so I would say the lower number hd6570 will not be better than the higher number 5670. Do you see what I mean? Did you puke?

Yes, also, I think you can get you C2D higher. Up the voltage a bit and try for 3.2Ghz. Also, with a hd5670, you will get great FPS is SC2. Trust me. The game needs minimal GPU power, a good dual core, and 4gb or more of RAM for great gameplay. I ran it with 4gb 800, my Athlon II X3 440 @ 3.3Ghz, and a GT240 on Ultra settings no problem.

Front Side Bus
basically the data bus that the CPU uses to communicate with motherboard
that is an Intel thing
AMD used Hyper Transport

the Intel FSB is quad pumped
meaning its "real" frequency for example 200mhz x 4 = 800mhz FSB
266x4=1066
333x4=1333
400x4=1600
so if your CPU multiplier is 10
and your fsb is 400 you then have 10 x 400= 4.0ghz cpu at 1600mhz FSB

I am still learning about that myself
Wikipedia is a good place to start to learn about the workings of CPUs
and mobos

newer architecture for Intel doesnt have a traditional FSB
