[SOLVED] intel core i5 7400

So I have an intel core i5 7400 and im looking to upgrade it in order to enhance my pc. With this being said im not entirely sure what cpu I can buy that would be able to fit into my motherboard. If it would help my motherboard is a "G11CD" and im looking to switch to an i7. Just not sure which one would work.

whatever board you have, be it 100 or 200 series, the 6700/6700K/7700/7700K are the only real choices that take you to 4 cores/8 threads, and, even that is starting off in a 'thread challenged' status for many newer games. Additionally, the inflated prices on the aforementioned models can sometimes actually make it less expensive to get a new CPU and mainboard instead. (the 7700K is still $343 on Amazon as of today's prices, where that amount would be better spent on an faster R5-3600 and compatible B450)
