Hey! The same seller has relisted the same model with two available for Buy It Now or Best Offer. I wonder how many leaked CPUs he'll get to sell? Once again, the photo clearly shows that the chip is marked "Intel Confidential"!

I want to make things clear, Intel prototypes are intel property, and they can't be sold. Event if you buy it, you don't own it.

I agree...there have been 6-core CPUs in servers for some time, but correct me if I'm wrong, but these will/do support Hyperthreading, making them 6 real and 6 virtual cores.

The trick is, I see zero activity at various moments while my Q9450 should be doing SOMETHING. Sure, perhaps it's too much to expect that the latest thing I click on will be dispatched to the least-busy core, but a *decent* O/S would work that way.

I am still using XP SP2 due to SP3 rebooting at random on me when it came out, and Windows 7 is still waiting for me to get around to it, so there IS hope...

Id have to be pretty rich to want to spend $1200 on a most likely stolen next gen cpu. Sure it probably will run on an x58 board, but its such a gamble.

But then I wouldnt spend $1200 on any cpu; as the cpu has become less and less important. I will take the $400 chip, and add in 2 more $400 graphics cards instead!

Wow. Could be real... There are no drivers for this so I dont see how it would work but whoever bought this should be weary as Intel should track it. I suppose just to say you had it first was the reason to why this person bought it. Who knows, it will be compatible with an X-58board however so it will be interesting to see if youtube comes out with a vid of this guy actually finding a way for this to work. Once we see the video of the benches then we will know if its real or not. Anyhow its still good marketing for Intel.

I don't really think Intel is being cheated. It's a flawless tactic to "release" a chip without stability and compatibility concerns. It's Intel's way to tell "hey people, don't buy the 6-core offering by AMD because we'll release our kick-ass 6-core soon".

Really, seems like they haven't quite mastered utilizing a Quad Core, yet, let alone a Core i7, and now Core i9. It's like having 4 burners on a stove when you only use the one on the front left side. What a waste.

Nice analogy. I noticed on my Q9550 that at different times it will utilize all 4 cores and at other times doing the same tasks will kill one core and the other 3 are near idle. This could be an XP thing as I haven;t made the jump to Win 7 yet. I will know next week after I install Win 7. Its interesting that I have Vista Ultimate 64 in the drawer of my desk, don't you think? Lol.
