Hello,

I have the Intel board D975XBX2 and I was thinking of buying the new GeForce GTX Series card.

The specs say that these cards are PCIe 3.0 x16, but the board is older than this specification.

question: will it work or I need to change the MB?

Thank you so much!
:)

Hey, sorry I just double checked and yours is not a 2.0 so while the card will work, it may not perform at the full rate if it is a real high end card:

The board provides the following PCI Express connectors:

One Primary PCI Express x16 (electrical x16
or x8) bus add-in card connector. The
x16 interface supports simultaneous (full duplex) transfers up to 8 GBytes/sec.
Single-ended (half duplex) transfers are supported at up to 4 GBytes/sec

I would not expect to be able to upgrade above a GTX 650. You problem is that to upgrade your motherboard, you will need to upgrade your CPU and memory too.
