Hello everyone!

I have a laptop provided by the company where I work - HP EliteBook 840. At home I am having a LG UltraWide monitor. As I see the laptop graphics card support 4k resolution, but when I plug it into my monitor the maximum i get is 1920x1080. I updated the drivers and I was able to set custom resolution through Intel Graphics Panel, but as soon as I do it I get an error: "The custom resolution exceeded the maximum bandwidth". That's why I setup a custom one with 40hz refresh rate and this is okay, but how can I set this resolution?

must be connected thru DVI or displayport

Of course. I am using DisplayPort

Display Port 1.2 = 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz

are you trying to use more than one monitor at a time?

also exact model of the LG screen?

No, I connected my laptop to a single LG 29um68 monitor using DisplayPort - HDMI cable. I setup a custom resolution of 2560x1080 40Hz. When I pick this resolution I get "Out of Range". The only resolution I made it working is 1920x1080.

you are using an adapter? why?

that screen has displayport

connect it directly
