[citation][nom]potoaborto[/nom]Why do u need a 6 core?? it's for nasa machines or something i think, google won't be faster, games won't be faster, why we need such huge power on desktop computers???[/citation]

I believe the same thing was said when the Pentium II released. "ZOMG WHY DO WE NEED 450mhz CPUs!? THATS LIEK NASA OR SOMETHING!"

:)

Waste of time. And don't tell me it's for gaming, as most games struggle utilizing more than 2 cores. You can buy another rig, a killer gpu or an insane monitor for the same amount of money, all of these solutions will be a better way to spend your money for most end-users.

You're completely missing the point. Computers aren't primarily for gaming. Not by a long shot. These high end six core chips are meant for high end use. Budget high end use at that since these are for people who can't afford dual processor workstations. These are great for video rendering, scientific calculations, financial models etc. i.e. serious *work*.

i7 still huh........... Its good to know that the X58 board will still be useful many years down the road as opposed to the P55 which will peak at dismal i7 quad cores..... I still dont get why their i7 is almost $250 more than the X58 17 920.... "mangled marketing" gimmicks is what intel should be accused of....

Anyway with this, I hope ppl realize that an X58 board is SO worth spending $50 or a bit more rather than getting a P55 board...

Try running some CFD simulations or some CAD/3D renderings. Not every PC is meant as web browsing or gaming PCs.

FYI: For the ISS/Space Shuttle NASA is still using 1980s tech

Thanks. I certainly wasn't being sarcastic AT ALL. Nerd rage inc.

[citation][nom]homrqt[/nom]Now.. to be patient until this drops into the low $200-$300 range... =/[/citation]

I consider myself a very patient person, but even I'm not THAT patient, it might be a while. Personally, I'm gonna go for a Phenom x6 :)

[citation][nom]El_Capitan[/nom]Can't wait to pay $1,400 for this sucker... or maybe I'm the sucker?[/citation]

LoL. +1 Capitan

I bet we're going to shave our beards 650 times before this reaches retail shelves.

Maybe because when i buy a new processor i buy a new MB at the same time?
I mean what do you do with your old proc, sell it at a loss or keep it for a seond system? Not to mention the p55 systems are cheaper, uses far less power/heat and have better turbo modes when not over clocked...

[citation][nom]brett1042002[/nom]But will it play...Duck Hunt...[/citation]

Yeah... about 500 instances of it, while you fold and watch movies... 2 movies (one in pip).

No, you can sell it to cover part of the cost of a new one. Besides, you should be able to get a decent amount of longevity out of the 1366 platform.

Lets also take a look at your argument. When everything is said and done, you really only have to pay an additional $50-$75 in order to get an X58 setup. And with that, you get triple channel memory (and more of it), and a more capable platform that's bound to have the best processors down the road. Besides, who buys a Core iAnything without the intention of overclocking it at least moderately?

[citation][nom]idisarmu[/nom]MSRP: 2 souls. In order to buy this processor, you must convince someone you love to donate their soul.[/citation]

No, no, no, you got it all wrong. That's why you have two kidneys!

Oh, and for the record, RubberJohnson (cute name), I have this i7-920 OCed to 3.88Ghz on air, on stock voltages with HT enabled. I can push it much farther, but past this it's just for bragging rights. The i7-975 isn't even this fast.
