Intel i5-6500 need a cooler?

Does the Intel i5-6500 actually need an aftermarket cooler for temperatures?
Or does an aftermarket cooler just provide quietness?

No. The stock Intel cooler will keep temps down and is not that loud at all...

Have an i5-6500 in my HTPC using stock cooler. Runs just fine and its quiet enough and low temps. Browsing the web/idle floats around 32C and gaming maybe the mid 50s. It's not a CPU that's going to get hot.
