So IDK why my cpu is so hot, I use MSI afterburner and I'm playing assassin's creed 3 at very high and high settings, no TXAA cause can't do TXAA in anti-aliasing cause temperature will go so much higher. I'm using the fan that just comes with the cpu, I tried getting the fan again and re applying the thermal paste and then putting it back on, nothing changed temp is still on 90-95C with 50-70% CPU usage, it even goes to 98C and I'm in idle right now writing this and my temperature is on 81C. Please help, what maybe the causes of these? please state as many factors as you can regarding with my problem. I use MSI afterburner. Also I'm not putting my closing case on, I have an electric fan facing on my system unit and I have no extra fans on the case cause I haven't got a new case yet. I have a GTX 1050 Ti gaming x with 6 pin and my mobo is P8H61-M LE with 4 GB kingston ram at 1333mhz. I'm providing as much information as I can.

PLEASE HELP.

Does the PSU has nothing to do with it? I don't really know cause btw I've got my monitor connected to cheap avr but my system unit is just directly plugged, not connected to AVR cause my AVR is a cheap one and I have a silverstone 500W strider essential PSU.

Solution
Even though this is a marathon thread, I just want to add something: if you load temps are in the 90s with ANY CPU cooler under any operating conditions (gaming, encoding, etc) then

1. Something wrong with your cooler. Fan, pump, etc is not working

2. Thermal paste was done incorrectly

3. Mount was done incorrectly

4. Overclocking

Don't use idle temps for CPU. Load temps are what matters.
Update: A lot of answers tells me that I wasn't able to place the fan correctly, but I did.
I've read articles saying just put a pea-sized thermal paste so I did, (this is early on the morning BTW, so it's the first time of that day that I turned on the computer) and so I turned on the computer, first it opened, BIOS tells temp at 98C so I restarted and then I didn't went on cause it says CPU overheated. And so I got off the fan again and I saw that the pea-sized thermal paste I put on previously didn't even spread, and so I got it off and applied thermal paste again but this time, I applied it widely spread but not too much, just enough that it's spread enough, I turned on the computer and my idle is at 70C but it goes higher the more time it does on idle. and when I play AC3 it automatically goes up to 95C.

Just told you this cause I saw some post saying that there maybe a problem with the CPU itself or the copper on the fan. I don't really know. Cause it kinda worries me that when I applied only pea-sized thermalpaste and turned it on, the CPU automatically gets really hot. Even overheated just like what I stated above.

You're going to simply have to get a new cooler and try again. Unless you are putting a lot of voltage through the CPU or something, the essential issues are a broken cooler or an improperly installed one. If you're sure that it's installed properly -- and I cannot verify that it is -- the option remaining is a broken cooler, which means all this is pointless until you actually get a new cooler.

I tried getting the FAN to turbo speed, and disabled cpu turbo and my max at full load now is at 81C. and my idle is at 70C. I don't think it's still ideal, but atleast not 90C at full LOAD. Yeah I should just try to get a new cooler, I'm just harvesting as many answers as I can cause I'm afraid that buying a new cooler won't make a difference cause we don't know if its actually on the stock fan that I have right now that I'm having the problem with.

BTW I'm not so good at voltages. CAN you check out these image for me https://imgur.com/a/EgHom it has all the info that I got including the voltages, please tell me if my cpu voltage is correct.

I'm not 101% if not 100% sure that I've placed the fan correctly. And Ive tried all sorts of things in applying thermal paste. Pea-sized thermal caused the cpu to overheat, best us to spread the thermal paste. Maybe yes it's with the cooler. The bad thing is that there's no hyper 212 EVO in my country. Only the LED version, there's an X version but out of stock. Can I just get the LED version? Ive read articles that the LED version isnt too good.

Pea sized is too much; spread it very very thin (the goal is to fill the voids, not to isolate the CPU from the cooler) or use the size of a cooked grain of rice (it's much less than pea size). Also make sure all 4 pins are fully locked in place (best is to check from the back).

Is your case large enough for the 212 LED? Can you provide a link to the place where you'll buy the cooler? It also is important to know what your maximum ambient temperature is; if you live in a warm country and you don't use air conditioning to keep the room at 23°C or less, then the stock cooler will never be enough.

I've spread the thermal paste yes and it's thin. I don't actually know if what's my room temperature, all I know is I live it the philippines and my room isn't air conditioned, only have an electric fan. Also I don't know if it will fit, I have a mobo of P8H61-M LE and MSI gtx 1050 ti on it.

Our country temp could get to 35C, normally 30-33C. At night it's 27C right now. My case, IDK the model number but it says GALAXY, nevermind that, I'll but a new case anyway called craft bishop micro-atx tempered glass case. I haven't seen a cooler yet, there are a lot of CM hyper 212 but the LED version, I want the X or EVO one. I'll buy it just a store here in my city if ever there is any.

UPDATE: My idle temp is at 60-68C and when I play AC3 I wasn't able to monitor it but my max temp was 75C. This happened after I turned OFF my CPU turbo and set the cpu fan speed to TURBO.

I hope this will improve AFTER I buy the CM hyper 212, there's no available EVO and X versions yet here. Only LED, but I don't wanna buy that since threads/posts says it's not a good version.

You want to buy a Craft Bishop Micro-ATX Tempered Glass case; what are the specs? What is the CPU cooler clearance? Can you install front fans? The CM 212 LED is 160 mm high; are you sure that it will fit that small case? You don't have air conditioning, but you want to buy a case that probably doesn't provide good airflow (unlike top mounted fans, the top mounted PSU won't help much). You definitely can't install a 160 mm cooler in your current case; why didn't you install a fan in the back?

It may not look as good, but a case like the Corsair Carbide SPEC-M2 (if you really want a micro-ATX case) would be better, but you can't install a CM 212 LED since the maximum cooler height is 150 mm.

Too bad you can't provide links to where you can buy parts.

Why do I need to give you links? parts can be searched. The case can be searched, the fan can be searched. You may tell me a model of a case or whatever I'd gladly appreciate it BUT THE THING IS the AVAILABILITY, you can just give me a recommendation, like a case with fans at the top something because of blablabla. Those things, not a model cause my country sucks when it comes to PC parts. I only saw the case on a local shop here, no links or whatever but you can search it, and the hyper 212, haven't found an EVO and X version yet.

There are no specs for the case; only pictures and I can't find them unless I contact the seller myself. Get a mid-tower case that allows mounting a 160 mm or higher cooler (check the specs to make sure). Install 2 fans at top, one in the back and 2 fans at front. Then you'll have no CPU overheating issues even when it's 35°C outside (and probably warmer inside).

Does 2 fans at the top really needed? It's hard to find a case here that is able to have fans at the top, the case I told you can only have 2 fans in front and 1 fan at the back, no top fans. And yes I will take note of that, I'll ask first if a 160mm cooler would fit, I'd bring my pc parts when buying the case anyway to see if everything fits. Also is tempered glass bad for temps?

Also I'm considering my budget here and that craft bishop fits my budget well considering it could hold 3 fans and a tempered glass.

Also will a fan case affect? I think I'll just buy a normal fan for the case.

Heat rises; therefore being able to exhaust it at the top always helps. The case that you want may be enough, but tempered glass doesn't conduct heat as well as steel (it isn't that important when only the side panel is tempered glass). The more airflow you get through the case, the lower the inside of the case will be. With your current case only the PSU draws hot air out; adding a fan in the back would definitely help.

Yes as I said, it could fit 3 fans, 2 in front and 1 at the back, so will it be enough having 1 fan at the back, no top fans though. BTW I haven't asked this but I'm so curious, what does the 160mm mean, I know it's the measurement of how long is it, what do you mean by that, cause you know my motherboard, so you know that it will fit even with a video card in my motherboard. Does the 160mm mean the measurement from the processor to the outside of the case. Cause if it won't fit, then you can't close the case. IDK if you understand me, but to summarize, does the 160mm size means motherboard size or size from processor to outside of case.

Also please help me, I have found two sellers
one was a CM hyper 212X CPU cooler 3 months used for 30$
one is a corsair H55 liquid cooler 8 months used for also 30$!
Both doesn't have the receipt cause it's gone, but there's a manufacturer's warranty right? IDK how it works.

Well anyways I'm really scared with liquid cause of leakage, and I also love aesthetics. Ughhh IDK, what should I get? What will the corsair H55 damage if it will leak? I'm sure it will not be included in the manufacturer's warranty so I'm really curious. Also is the hyper 212X so LOUD?

Closed loop liquid coolers rarely leak, but pump failures are too common; if I were you I'd pass on the H55 unless you can't fit the CM 212X in the case that you'll buy. The 212X is much quieter than your stock cooler and you haven't complained about it being noisy; therefore you shouldn't be concerned by the 212X noise level. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/CoolerMaster/Hyper_212X/7.html Note that the Corsair H55 will be louder than the CM 212X.

Without a receipt the CM 212X has one year warranty based on the manufacturing date as determined by the serial number. For the H55 a valid proof of purchase is required for RMA processing.

So you're suggesting I'd get the 212X right? and it would fit on my motherboard with a gtx 1050 Ti on it too? It's just that the case matters if it fits or not, well there will be no problem cause i'll just bring the 212X with my while buying the case.

You can install it in your current case, but the side panel won't fit. You don't need to bring your parts; just make it clear that you'll install a CM 212X (158 mm high); therefore the minimum CPU cooler clearance should be 160 mm.

Cases that meet the clearance requirements (I have no clue if they are available in your country):
- Fractal Design Core 2300
- DIYPC DIY-F2
- Cooler Master N200 (without a side fan)

You'll probably find out that the number of micro-ATX cases large enough for a CM 212 is somewhat limited.

Yup I was done asking and the seller says yes, I'll just bring it to be sure anyways. So it fits to the motherboard yes? The only thing that matters if it fits with the case meaning I can close the side panel.

Fitting the motherboard is not an issue, but it may prevent using the first memory slot. A Cryorig M9i or the larger H7 don't have that issue. Honestly the M9i available at https://www.facebook.com/pg/pchub/shop/?search_text=cryorig (1 999,00 ₱ or $24.50 USD) would meet your requirements and it definitely fits in your case. The H7 is more expensive, but at 147 mm high it also fits more cases than a CM 212X. If I were you I'd get the Cryorig M9i, add a cooling fan in the back of my case and be done with it. That cooler would also fit nicely in the Craft Bishop Micro-ATX Tempered Glass case.

Already got the CM hyper 212X, it has dents on the end but threads says its ok cause maybe cause of shipping, now my max temp in playing assassin's creed 3 is at 60C though it won't go lower even if im in idle, what does idle mean anyway? it's still at 50-60C in idle. How to I increase the RPM with this? Also I'm not sure with max 60C while playing assassin's creed yet cause I haven't played for long.

So to summarize it, I recorded max temp of 60C with max cpu usage of 88%, is it good enough? also idle is still at 50-60C doesn't go down, what's idle btw and maybe increasing the fan rpm would help, then how?

Idle is when the CPU utilization is 10% or less. Idle temperature isn't as important as full load; the ambient temperature directly affects the CPU temperature. As long as it stays below 80-85°C you're fine. If you want to know the maximum temperature that it will reach, then run Prime95 Small FFTs for 5 minutes and monitor the core temperatures. Let the motherboard determine the optimal fan speed, but it won't reach the RPM of an Intel stock fan.

I see, just a bit worried cause some people has 25-30C at idle with only stock cooler they said, also with an i7 but not 2600 specifically. And still got 50-60C at idle even if my TURBO CORE is turned off, what more if it's on. Also got my fan speed in BIOS set to turbo, I don't know if it really affects the hyper 212X. With all these, I still got 50-60C temp at idle. But maybe, just maybe it would be better if I got a new case with fans in it, cause right now I got a simple case (uncovered side panel) with only an electric fan facing on it like 2 feet away. Maybe a better airflow would affect my temp better.
