Intel i7 4790k High Load Temp?

Hi I recently switched to Intel and I am using the stock cooler.
While running BF4 on ultra I get up to 73C on the cores reported by MSI Afterburner.
Is this too high of a temperature? Should I mess around with the fan settings in my bios?

No it's not too high it's average. You can start to do something if you reach 85 - 90C.
The stock cooler is not so great plus BF4 is quite demanding on the CPU so really nothing to worry about for now.

If its 73C on the cores, it should be about 60C on the case. Check in bios/uefi for the cpu/case/package temp.

It should be under 35C idle and 55C gaming. If not, bump up the cooler fan rpm.

If still not, re-seat (new thermal paste) the cpu cooler.

Hi,

Same CPU here. I have already replaced stock cooler (40 idle, 105 under benchmarks) to evo 212 with mx4 paste.
Now I get 31-32 idle, similar in BIOS.
Benchmarks easily push it to 85.
My most frequently played game, diablo 3, pushes it to 65-70.
My room temp is 21-22. My pc case is equipped with 5 fans. I reapplied the paste 4 times, getting probably same results each time.
I updated my BIOS, mb is assu maximus vii ranger.

I seriously can't see how people get below 60 with heavy load...diablo 3 - old game which uses only 1 core reaches 70 quite quickly.

Also, may I ask, how to check the case temp which people refer to? People mention that it should be much lower than cores... what is it ? Is it the package temp ? If so, in my case, it is always 1-2 degrees higher than highest core.

It is supposed to be CPU for overclockers. How ? With already low room temp, many case fans, good case (zalman z11), one of best pastes (mx4) and definitely not bad cooler (evo 212) I am struggling to get below intel MAX temp! All of that playing NOT demanding game...
