Intel i7 8086k vs AMD 2700x for Gaming/Streaming

To make it short and simple Ive been torn on the decision between these 2 CPUs. I want to get more into streaming but dont know if speed or cores is more important. Is 6 Cores more then enough for Game + all the other program being ran for a smooth stream? I know the 2700x is better for Rendering & Multi-tasking etc but the 8086k is much better in single core performance making the game run nicer while streaming. Looking to play newer titles like Battlefield & Black Ops 4.

Main Games I play:
Wow,Overwatch,Fortnite,PUBG,CSGo,R6 Siege. I play all shooters on the lowest settings possible for fps gain.

6 cores + hyper threading is sufficient for gaming/streaming, but I would anticipate the 8/16 to be more beneficial.

The 8086K is the outright strongest "gaming" CPU available today, but it is just a better binned 8700K.

While money may be no object here, the 8086K is pretty much bragging rights & not a bunch else - you're not going to net proportionate gains vs the 8700K.


If it were me, I'd opt for the 2700X.

If the games you play are cpu intensive, the 2700x would probably be better. Denpends on games you play also.

For streamming the 2700X is better hands down

but gaming will depend on the game and specific scenario


if you are aiming at very high FPS targets intel is usally the prefered choice.

But the 8086K is kinda pointless, 8700K will perform about the same for much $$ less

Intel 8086k is just a more expensive version of the 8700k with no performance gain. For streaming purposes only, the Ryzen 7 2700x will offer slightly better performance than the 8700k. However, intels faster single core performance will give you higher FPS in games. Ryzens 1080p gaming performance is actually still behind even intels 4th generation chips.

8700k or wait for next INTEL chips
