That's why I think they have mostly a 2-pronged strategy of designing chiplets for server and desktops, plus designing monolithic APUs for laptops and desktop. If/when their mainstream laptop APUs adopt their chiplet architecture, then you might find a bit more creativity in the desktop market.
I actually think that AMD is likely to use low end APUs to cover the low end desktop whether they change their packaging strategy or not. I don't really see a 12-core CCD part hitting the $300 MSRP price point.

They could also just keep pumping out rebranded or updated Zen 5 chips rather than binning the 12 cores down. 9600XT 9700XT, etc.

I think a lot of people would be happy with a 10 core as an offering as well. Around $320-330 with the 12 core being more.

I am thinking the 12 core '10800X3D' part to cost in the realm of 550-650 dollars TBH. 12 core non X3D in the 450-500 dollar range. These are MSRP on launch to be clear.
