I doubt they still sell Pentium 4's.. even if you could find one, why waste money on it? With some research I think you will find there are much more powerful systems available now.

You have to examine the CPU box. Just make sure you're buying from a reputable store in case there's a problem, you can return it.

Intel chips come with shiny hologram stickers on the side. However I wouldnt waste your time trying to find an old P4 - you should be aiming for C2Q minimum - preferably though i5/i7
