I am also not excited by facebook, however, it might draw in new people to toms....

I'm in the process of getting people to help manage the charts and FB group.

You can help if you want :D

Passed Prime95 for hours but had to up my vcore for IBT, resulting in me hitting 90 degrees which obviously isn't good. so i'm gonna scale back to 4.5GHz, the settings for which i've thoroughly tested in IBT (with safer temps). One core is cooler than the rest, but at 4.5 temps weren't high enough to justify sorting it out (~83 on IBT, 60-70 in Metro/BF3). anyways, enough of my life story:

Name: Mr. Stab
CPU: i5-2500k
Mobo: Asrock P67 Pro3
RAM: 2 x 4GB G.Skill RipjawsX 9CL 1600MHz @ 9-8-9-24-2T (haven't tried 1T yet... hmm...)
VCore: 1.37v
BUS/Multiplier: 100.2 x 46
Clock speed: 4.6 GHz
Cooling: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro (rev. 2) + butchered stock Intel fan
OS: Windows 7 Professional x64

Proof that i'm not a big fat liar:

Nice OC, although 90 degrees is cutting it a little close, dont you think? Have you tried a lower voltage? I've run 4.5ghz on only 1.3 volts... That would lower your temps by a good chunk.

yeah it's FAR too hot, i was surprised. i've been stable in games & Prime up until i tried IBT at 4.6 (as i say i'd tested it on 4.5, mustve forgot to do it again). my machine was on for 18 hours before i did this but still, it's pretty sketchy. i don't understand the need for such a high voltage either, seeing how so many people have achieved similar results with a lower vcore. was at 1.35 which seemed fine, but i kept getting a BSOD in IBT.

100mhz shouldnt make too much difference i guess. it'll just make me feel less manly and awesome :( lol

yknow i was actually gonna ask if the timings could be the problem, 9-9-9 is stock but after experimenting/getting annoyed a lot i managed to boot without Prime errors for 2-3 hours on 9-8-9. couldn't get a memory dump because it hanged at 95% but the BSOD was "A clock interrupt was not received"; which i googled around for but a few people seemed doubtful it was RAM related. do you think it's worth changing it back then?

vcore is on fixed mode, i just found it easier to get my brain around

(i'll start a new thread if this turns into a whole investigation lol, so as to not hijack)

Nah you can keep it here. I mean...It kinda is the purpose of this thread.

Ram timings can be an issue. you also want to make sure you disable:

Spread Spectrum
Speed Step

This is as far as I'll take my 3960X on air, http://www.meyithi.com/graphics/oc.png, 10pm NW England so I'd want a good 10c leeway just in-case we ever get a decent summer in the UK :)
