The intel bios of my D845WN board will not allow any changes to be made to the either the multiplyer or bus speed. (it is simply not an option in the bios). I have stabile temperatures running 2.4ghz @ 40 degrees (c) (full winter load) and is therefor asking if there is a software based upgrade utility compatible with this board or in any other way useful

Yes... look for a version of SoftFSB or SetFSB which supports your mobo or clock generator chip.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM 😱

thanks... I will look into it =)

Is there also a tool that can register the pci/agp clock frequences?

hmm.. neither softfsb or setfsb seem to support my Intel D845WN board.. any other way around?

I tried coolcpu which tells me that the ICS 950201 (which was the closest I could get to my ICS 950201AF chip) did not support SMbus changes. Will this -AF be any different or I am I lost at @2.4?

The whole point of this was actually to raise my pc-133 ram speeds to get closer to the 16000 3dmarks instead of my current 10500

do you mean cpu cool?

Anyhow if you cannot find a program that does not support your PLL then you are at a loss...

Although if you are using a 400mhz bus cpu there are probably ways to increase the voltage/fsb by insolating/shorting pins...i dunno if you would be interested in this option though...

3 386DX-25's...12 volts...glue some ln2 and a wicked amount of overclocking and you get a willamantee minus 36 pins, 33.75 million transistors and a couple hundred mhz... 😎

cpucool it was..

Sure thing... I would like to know about it, probrably so steady that I try it out too 😉 Thanks a lot

are you using a 400 or 533mhz bus cpu...

If you are using a 533mhz bus cpu then i cannot help you...

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP

I'm thinking any Intel board is not the right board for ocing...

Intel P4 2.4C @ ???, ABIT IS7, Stock Intel HSF, 2x Kingston HyperX PC3000 256MB, Radeon 9700Pro

For frequency that may be a little bit difficult...you will probably have to ground the bsel0 pin...no doubt it will require some research...i don't know anyone who has done it and if you are interested you will have to do some researching on your own...

This should get you started...see page 20...

Seems like a walk in the park =). But I think I will wait till I have a safer economy... just in case =). Thanks for everything !

yes!!!!,you're correct, IT WON'T WORK, my buddy tried it on his 2.4a----and ended up with nothing!!!!
Actually, what he did was "remove" the bselo pin( never thought of nail polish idea, until it was too late!!!) and it never booted after that. It's just too much for the 2.4a to handle.
I did however, recover the chip from his trash can, took a pin off of an older chip, "carefully" inserted the old pin into slot and placed chip down on top-------presto = free 2.4 chip. Still using it today, and that was last year I believe.
Go to http://www.cpudatabase.com/CPUdb/ and check out their database for results with non-modded, and modded chips like your 2.4 to give you some ideas!!!!

Good luck!!!!!

ooo...that was not smart....you are supposed to

get a screw driver and gentely widen up the pin hole in the pga socket of the pin you want to insulate..

then get an old ide cable and cut a little section...and remove the wires from the insulation....put the ide cables insulation over the pin you want to isolate and insert the cpu into the socket...Tada...that is the SMART thing to do

ahhhhh, to be young and foolish(read:stupid),although it worked out for me......I think it taught him a lesson-----the hard way......research,research,research!!!!! lol
