Intel Pentium G860 - Gaming Performance?

I know what you're going to say.... "Get an i5@@@," or "wait a little bit to save up your money for a better processor.." Well, currently i'm trying to game on an HP ENVY Dv6, and things get pretty hot, pretty fast... I don't want to completely overheat my components in this laptop, so I decided to build a budget gaming PC.

Now, I was looking at the Intel Pentium G860 dual core @ 3.0 GHz as it was suggested by a few users around the forums. All I'm wondering is what kind of performance could I expect from this CPU with a Gigabyte Radeon HD 7770 Hz Edition 1GB GDDR5 in games like Planetside 2, Guild Wars 2, and Battlefield 3?

I know Planetside 2 is a very CPU demanding game, but there are optimization patches that are supposed to come out, and that game is so great, I just want to see if this will be able to run it at decent frames. Thanks for your replies in advance, and if you have any other suggestions for CPU's, feel free.

Yes g860 is good budget cpu.it is best gaming cpu under $100.you can go with hd 7770.g860 can easily handle hd 7770 without bottleneck.

The Intel® Core™ i3-3220 is a nice processor that will give you a little more performance without sending the price to much higher. Matched up with a board like the ASRock Z77 Pro4 and you have a nice system to get you started.

the pentium G860 is a solid budget gaming cpu. however the i3-3220 is much more expensive than G860 so its not worth the slight increase in performance. so stick with a G860

what about the g2030? it is ranked higher but is it good or better for gaming on a budget?

I have been running a core 2 duo E6600 overclocked to 3.4Ghz, which gives 1.88 in cinebench. The G860 gives ~2.4 in cinebench which is a far bit faster.

Although i have a gtx 660 which is faster than the HD7770, i have been playing battlefield 3 @1280x1024 on ultra perfectly smoothly. (40+ fps most of the time), so the G860 is certainly good enough for battlefield 3 at least.
