Question Intel vs Amd. Worth waiting for i3-1220P or go with Ryzen 5 5500U? Also how does adaptive sync work in Intel laptops with an external monitor?

An i3-1220P laptop seems to be around the same price as a Ryzen 5 5500U laptop where I live, which is better? I'll be using it for studying and some light gaming.

I already have a monitor that supports freesync and want to make sure the laptop im buying will be able to make use of it.

How does adaptive sync work in Intel laptops? It's supported only over DP but laptops only seem to have HDMI ports. Do I just buy an adapter?
I know AMD supports freesync over hdmi.

I'm deciding between a laptop with i3-1220P or one with Ryzen 5 5500U. The latter has about 25% faster single core performance while only having 2 P-cores while the former has superior multi-core performance on account of it's 6 Zen2 cores.
My use case is heavy browsing, light content consumption and light gaming. I'll mostly be using it for studying and I don't use my PC for CAD or videoediting or anything like that. But I'd still like to make it as future proof as possible.

Thoughts?

Some reading.

I think you may have the former/latter backwards.
The i3-1220P processor seems to me to be better by a large margin.
Here are the passmark ratings.
In particular, look at the single thread performance which is the more important metric for fast desktop use.:

As to free/adaptive sync this older article may help:

I do not know how or if it applies to integrated graphics.
