Hello, I have a Gigabyte - GA-Z68AP-D3(R2.0) ATX LGA1155 Motherboard. PC Part Picker said this for compatibility: Some Intel Z68 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Ivy Bridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.
Please tell me that my mobo can support i7 3770k. Can it support it? And if it can, how much is the cpu overclockable?

Solution
"FC" is the Bios version you'd need to run that CPU. If you go to the page i linked earlier, you'll multiple versions of Bios updates to download. The one labeled "FC" is what you are looking for.
OK, so before you change cpu's, update your bios to the latest version (UA9) and you should have no problems.

Bios is available here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z68AP-D3-rev-20#support-dl

As far as overclock goes, depends on what cooler you are using, and the silicon lottery. Also be aware your board is an older unit so it's Vrm's and caps could be getting tired. With a decent cooler you should be able to get 4.5ghz as a safe overclock.

Thanks!

How about an ordinary i7 3770? (non k)

Oh and BTW:
Description
Beta BIOS
UEFI BIOS
(When updating from legacy to UEFI, use only the utility attached to your BIOS file)
(Note) Some GIGABYTE utilities are not supported under UEFI BIOS architecture. Please remove Smart6, Dynamic Energy Saver, Smart TPM, and Touch BIOS utilities before updating the BIOS.
Does my mobo ga z68 ap d3 support UEFI BIOS acrchitecture so I don't have to do all this sh!t? Thanks in advance.

You can get the regular 3770, no worries. Just cant overclock it. As far as which bios, You'll need at least "FC", you dont have to go to the UEFI bios if you dont want to.

All those notes say are to remove the gigabyte software before updating your bios.

Wait, what does that mean? Sorry, I'm an expert noob in terms of motherboards. What is FC and how do I need it?

Sir, thank you very much.

No Problem, good luck.
