The benefits of controlling their product outweigh the benefits of using a third party foundry. Look right now. AMD and nVidia are having supply issues and it will get worse with more and more companies vying for foundry space, especially since Apple looks to want to eventually move everything to M1.

It might be a good stop gap until they get their own process tech sorted but it is nowhere near as viable as having their own process tech and fabrication units.

nobody saying to put ALL of their stuff on 3rd party ones.

keep your most profitable ones as in house and lesser profiting ones on someone else's.

Too bad, I was actually hoping for more competition - which is typically a good thing for consumers (AMD is already rising prices).

Instead of copying competitors tech processes, Intel needs to copy competitor's HR practices.
