I'm not anywhere near an avid knowledge based person in interchanging desktop parts, so im in the blank as to what happens when changing graphics cards?

How do i prepare?
What do i need in software or drives for when i purchase an invidia card?
Is it that easy to just pop in the new one for it to start functioning?

current card: AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
looking for INVIDIA thatll top this at least to be able to run most games flawlessly.
(blizzard games, battlefield 3, warframe, eve, Elite Dangerous)

Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Dell XPS 8300

thank you for your time.

A 960 would be your Nvidia option

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 960 2GB Video Card ($198.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $198.99

However, for a few dollars more you can get a 280X, which will perform better by about 15% stock to stock comparison. It is also the Vapor-X model.
