What are some interesting free apps and software i should download on my PC that will simplify my life and are just simply cool?

"Simply cool" is quite subjective. However, if you are at all interested in coding try "Scratch 2.0" via MIT.

As for making your life simple that too is subjective. What is making your life complicated: e.g., budget, tracking expenses, a large music or video collection, problems with computers and network, etc.?

You may like some software that is relaxing - try Crayon Physics.... bit dated but fun.
