I'm experiencing great lag with my laptop, a dell l502x.
I ran several tests and I found some problems with the hard drive: a toshiba mk6461gsy
HDtune shows a quite high Interface CRC Error count, about 26 billions.
I've uninstalled the disk from my laptop, cleaned it and installed on my desktop, ran hdtune from there, and the errors keeps increasing at a very fast pace!
For example if I start to copy something to the drive every time I click update on hdtune the counter increases by a few errors.
Bench-marking it shows a strong irregular performance, averaging to 45 MB/s.
There are no bad blocks by the way.
So it is definitely a problem with the controller on the disk, isn't it?
I think there is nothing to do, but before buying another disk I wanted to ask for you advice, maybe I'm missing something ?
What do you think ? Are there any other things to try ?
