Internet Connection Issues

Hello, I'm having problems connecting to the internet with my Windows 7 PC. I'm connected using an ethernet cable directly into my modem. I've scoured the internet in hope of a fix to my problems (ie. boujour.exe, static ip) but haven't found any success yet. I am unable to release/renew my ip either. Here are some of my ip specs -

- From what I undersand, an IP address begginning with 169.254 signals a problem with the DHCP but I am not sure how to address this issue. Thanks for help!

have you made sure that the cable is okay and is plugged in all the way?

is anything else connected to the modem?

I've checked the cables and the modem; there's another PC hoocked up to the modem and its not having any connection issues. I'm fairly certain that the problem lies within the software.

how is the other computer connected to the modem?

what make and model is the modem?

It's a motorola sbg6580; the other PC is connected to one of the ports in the back.

in the Network and Sharing Center on the left you should see Change Adapter Settings.

what is the status of your network card?
