My set up is as follows -
From ONT direct to Sage mcomm Fast 5374 Router.

Router port 1 to Work PC - PC says no internet connection but will run off WiFi . Still available unable to connect to to LAN unless router and/or PC is restarted.
Port 2 to Power line adapter to PC in other room - PC loses LAN internet intermittently and does not have wifi - windows diagnostics says "Your DNS server is not responding- detail - Your computer is trying to use a DNS server that is incorrect or does not exist.
Port 3 to 8 port HIKVision internet switch to TV, PC(3), Set top box, Wifi access point (TP Link ac 1200 upstairs), PS4 and PS3. All devices lose internet intermittently except PS4 and 3 which i don't use and haven't had complaints about.
Port 4 to TV(2)

Have no idea why this is occurring - any ideas?

On your computer run "ipconfig /all" without quotes via the Command Prompt.

Copy and paste the full results in a post here.

Also make a list of all devices (wired and wireless) with device name, mac, and IP address. Ensure that there are no duplicates.

The list may be needed for further troubleshooting.

Because it affect multiple devices it is more likely the problem is the router or the internet connection itself.

It would be nice if you could get a test to work on ethernet connected directly to the router. When you have wifi or other things like powerline device it makes it more complicated. If you were to call your ISP they would try to blame those things to avoid actually looking at the problem.

In any case best to try to rule some stuff out. How often does this happen. Is this something that happens every few hours/minutes or is this something that randomly happens every couple days.

The reason for the question is the best first test tends to be to plug a pc directly into the ISP ONT. This will quickly show you if the router is the cause or if the internet is really going down. Problem is if you have to wait days for it to happen you have the rest of your network disconnected while you test.

Maybe you get lucky and the log in the router shows something. If for example the router is rebooting there might be a software or hardware issue. Assuming your router is really 5364 it seems a pretty basic router. It has logging but does not have any actual diagnostic tools to monitor the internet.

The fairly standard test is to open 2 cmd windows. Leave a constant ping run to the router IP on one window and a common ip like 8.8.8.8 on the other. Gernally if you get no issue to the router IP but have issues to 8.8.8.8 your internet is actually going down. If you have issue to the router IP then things are more complex but it is something inside your house.

I wouldn't know how to ping anything.
And can't copy /paste the results from the IPconfig listing.

Another point - The TV could drop out while I'm using the PC - the kids would telll me they can't get netflix. Pc would still be connected - but could drop out later or when switching it on it won't connect the LAN but the wifi would be ok

Further to my last post - the router and internet switch have both been replaced - new router and known good internet switch.
Devices after the switch still losing the internet.
When in the router settings I can see LAN connected devices -The Set Top Box is connected after the switch and I can ping the devices after the switch, box, router and every other device connected to it - but no internet.
Have changed the cable between the router and switch but did not make a difference.

Any thoughts on solving this would be welcome.

Update your post to include a full list of all connected devices: modem, router, modem/router (if combined), switch, etc..

Include make and model information.

Connection path likely being similar to the following line diagram where ----> represents an Ethernet cable:

ISP === (coax, DSL, fiber) ===> Modem ---->[WAN Port] Router [LAN Port] ----> [LAN Ports] Wired Network devices (one device being the switch).

With Switch LAN ports -----> other Wired network devices.

And Router ~~~~~ >Wireless devices.

From the computer that you used to ping your network devices, ping google using

ping 8.8.8.8

You should be able to use CTRL C to copy the results and CTRL V to paste the results.

Likewise run "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt. Again copy and paste the full results.

Full Fibre to the house - Open Reach Modem.
Modem to Talk TalkSagemcomm Fast 5464 - 2.T4 router.
Router port one to HP Desktop PC - no connection issues.
Router port 2 to Develo AV200 mini power-line adapterto Desktop PC/2 - would occasionally have to restart network adapter after losing internet connection.
Port 3 to Hikvision DS-3E0508D-E unmanaged Layer 2 internet switch - all devices connected to this lose internet connection.
Port 4 to Play Station 4 - no issues.

Devices connected to internet switch - Desktop Gaming PC, TP-Link WA1201 AC1200 WiFi Access Point, Panasonic Smart TV, Talk Talk Set Top Box - Huwaeii Model number 372T

Router has been changed to a new one from TT - same model.
Internet Switch has been changed to a known good one- -dropouts still occurring.

Nothing has made a difference.

All cables checked with sequence tester 1-8 - all fine.

I suspect Talk Talk have done something to wreck the system, unintentionally, of course.
Used to work just fine for months then started to drop out on the TV and STB and now the WiFi access point.

The house was wired for Ethernet in Jan 2023 and as I said worked fine for months.

House wiring - All cables are Cat5e.

When I say internet drop out - I mean for a long time - days for the STB. TV is now on Wifi from AP and will sometimes drop out.

There are no duplicate IP addresses except on the Panasonic TV and Chromecast which is connected to it.

Layer 2 switch works on Mac addresses anyway.
