Received the automatic security update download for XP on 6/28/05. Since
then, there are some web sites that I cannot access. I keep getting the
"page cannot be displayed" and "server cannot be found/DNS error" Have
turned off Norton and retried to access the sites with no luck. Need to know
if there are some settings I should change in IE to avoid this problem.

Rose - with no idea *which* sites you are having difficulty with, it's hard
to tell what the problem could be.

Were you able to access the sites previously? Is it required to log into
these sites? Have the security settings in IE been changed? Have you
checked for viruses, with NAV updated? Have you checked for malware with 2
different UPDATED programs? Does anyone else use this computer? Have you
tried these sites with another computer? Can you try an alternate browser
(firefox)?

HTH, best of luck, xfiler.

The sites I am currently having a problem accessing are:
www.charbroil.com and www.midwestgunexhange.com
All of my IE settings are defaulted, I have an updated Norton Anti-virus
active. Don't know what "malaware" is, so no, I have not checked. Also, the
tech from my internet provider - TCTWEST, tried the sites and was able to get
in immediately. He was of no help in determining why I can't. He simply
said I must have a firewall that is preventing me from accessing certain
sites.

Kelly
Thanks for the info. However, I am not sure I should be downloading a MS
fix from 2004 since I have continually received updates from that site up to
current day.
Am not sure anymore how to access DOS so that I cannot try the string shown
on your site. Also, I am diligent about cleaning out cookies and cache, so
is there another place in the pc that some might be hiding?
