Recently I've been having issues with our internet becoming absurdly slow, for no apparent reason. I have a very high-end pc build, however it is rendered absolutely worthless in online competitive gaming as I can't do anything. Half the games I play time out and the rest are so laggy that I might as well leave anyways, as I have absolutely no chance of winning.

Our modem is Arris DG3270 (ISP Eastlink), and I'm connected directly to it via Ethernet. Any help with this would be appreciated, as this has become excruciatingly painful to deal with.

Here is a screenshot of our internet speed shown on speedtest.net. Keep in mind this is to a server that is 67km (41 miles) away.

UPDATE: Issue has been fixed. Was an error with the router being unable to handle the plan they upgraded us to during the pandemic. we're at 150 now which is the best for our area, but hey, still better than 0.25 🤣
Almost be willing to bet it's a problem with your router / gateway, or the ISP itself. Basically, nothing you can fix on your own. Call your ISP and tell them about the issue, and that you use the internet for your job, and it's costing you money to have the speeds crippled like that. Should bump you up to the front of the line, hopefully.

sorry, I mean the port on the motherboard

test with a different cable?
Ah, thanks for the clarification. I just tried that and nothing much has changed at all. But the wifi is slow as well, so I'd assume either the modem or isp is at fault.
I've replaced both the coaxial and ethernet cables at least once now. The issues are still persisting.

do other pcs or devices work at or near the advertised internet speed?
From what I've been shown, our internet plan name is "Internet 350" (Not Internet 350 Fiber, we have coaxial cable I believe it's called) from Eastlink. I'd assume this means we should be getting 350Mbps. We're getting around 0.25. So, nowhere near advertised price. About 1,400 times slower than advertised price to be exact.

Yeah, I was thinking that might be the issue. We're going to be calling our ISP shortly and see if anything comes of it.

UPDATE: We called and there's apparently an error with our modem. They will be coming to look at it tomorrow, hopefully something is done.

Sometimes my internet speed decreases by 5/6 and i unplug the router, then plug it back in,and the speed is back.
This would make sense for the amount you specified, but 5/6 is nothing compared to losing 349Mbps.

The ISP has already confirmed that it's an issue on their end, and they are sending someone tomorrow to look at it.
