So 3 days from now im getting comcast cable....12 mbps download and 3mbps upload (something like that)

I want to know if I can host servers in online games such as... modern warfare 2 and black ops...pretty much any popular first person shooter. I noticed that every game I play I am not host and I am lagging...my current connection is 2.5 MBPS download and 0.4 MBPS upload.

If I am host will other people joining me lag? Is my new internet sufficient for online game hosting?

Solution
+1 hang-the-9.

An SSD won't help you here (or if it does, you'll barely notice it). More ram will provide a much greater benefit for what you're planning to do.
Depends on how many people play, and also how powerful your server is. You want tons of RAM and a fast CPU to act as a game server. You should be OK for 3-4 users with no issues as far as the connection goes. Maybe more, games don't use up that much bandwidth to play, most of the processing is in the local PC.

Ok thanks! My PC specs are as follows...
AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 GHZ (i can overclock to 3.9 GHZ)
4 GB DDR3 RAM (is this enough? i can upgrade to 8GB)
Radeon 4870 512MB
600W Power supply

ok my budget is actually around $100, i was thinking about going for an SSD (solid state drive) but i guess im going for more RAM, i can easily overclock to 3.9 GHZ so ill do that...so is my internet speed fine?
