Hi all hopefully someone will be able to help.

I am currently experiencing issues with my new router.

First off i'll give you a little background. Currently i am using a D-link DSL-G604T router to connect to my internet via a wire and wirelessly with multiple devices.

I have recently purchased a Netgear DGN3500 to replace my fast aging D-link. The main reason for the upgrade is gigabit switch that is built in along with some other features.

I started by literally mirroring the settings from the working D-Link to the Netgear however was unable to gain a connection.

I spoke to tech support to confirm my settings (long time since I’ve changed anything) He recommended changing the DNS address to automatic not manual which the D-Link was set to. He also advised I changed from LLC based to VC based again different from the currently working D-Link. This did however solve my issues and granted me an internet connection.

The problem however is after turning on the new Netgear Router the connection to the internet drops after 5 or so minutes of browsing. What’s worse although the routers lights are correct i am unable to access the configuration page or ping the router itself.

The only way to get the internet connection back is to reboot the router. Every time i do this the log seems to clear so i have nowhere to look for errors.

I have upgraded the Netgear to the latest firmware before starting so that shouldn’t be the issue.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanking in advanced,

Steve.
