The SOFTWARE ecosystem is more important to me than hardware specs.

I have no interest in GAMING on a tablet, so as long as it feels responsive I'm good for the hardware part.

DOCK FEATURES I want:
- charging
- USB transfer to PC
- 3.5mm audio output (to desktop PC speakers)

I also want a MINI-HDMI, and a half-decent video camera on the tablet so I can take a video during the day and hook-up to an HDTV without a dock. SIGH.

I love my iPhone 4s, and loved my 4 and 3g at the time I got them, so I have 'love' for Apple, but seriously? $329 for a tablet you can get for a LOT cheaper (in Android), and people who actually compare products and have more than an apple seed for a brain will know the differences. Apple is going on their name only on this one, cause the iPini is crap compared to what $329 can get you!!

Meh? I know I'll be getting the Surface anyway.
Apart from being able to play music, the iTunes software has and probably will always be a royal pain to use.

I think it would be other way.. Surface sales will make a dent in IPAD sales coming year.

It maybe Zak or someone else but I don't see a W8 Surface as a polished consumer product. However I can see it has its market already. For very light and portable business it is an attractive product but even there it has to compete with other options.

To me the Surface is not a lets say cool enough consumer product, but entry business with some entertaining possibilities.

[citation][nom]vaughn2k[/nom]Is WU an Apple investor?[/citation]I'm starting to dislike Zak Islam articles, they make the News section feel like a tabloid. This time he chose just about the worst source possible to base a "news" article on. For one, how does an ARM tablet, designed to compete with other ARM tablets, hurt Windows 8 sales? Windows 8 devices are x86, and the vast majority of them are completely different form factors, and the rest are still in a different league.

Now if you mean Windows RT, that almost makes sense. Except that the Surface is still in a higher bracket, and competes with other 10-11" tablets. Nobody in their right mind is cross shopping the Surface with the Mini. Maybe with the full size iPad and Android 10+" tablets. Also, the Surface starts at $499, not $599 as quoted (unless I'm missing something and the iPad Mini is bundled with the Touch Cover also). The whole idea is silly. If the iPad Mini bites into anyone's sales, it's going to hurt sales of Amazon and Google's 7" tablets.

[citation][nom]killerclick[/nom]iPad Mini is not overpriced when compared to Surface.1024x768 on an 8" screen vs 1366x768 on a 10" screen.A5 vs Tegra 3.Best (well, largest) app store vs Office.$330 vs $500Now compare each to Nexus 7 and they both look like highway robbery.[/citation]Pixels don't tell the whole story. Haven't you ever read any of the display reviews on AT? There's a lot of factors. It's the reason a 40" 1080p no-name LCD TV doesn't look as good as a 40" 1080p high-end LED or Plasma TV. Especially in less-than-ideal lighting.

There is nothing in the universe that can hurt Windows 8 devices more than having Windows 8 on them!

I'm not paying a premium, Apple are you kidding me? If you want to be rocking the market then be more competitive. What am I saying though, I don't want Apple to win anyways.
