Hi,
This is a problem about a semi-hack into a school's wifi network. Please don't keep reading if you are going to tell me to follow the rules or buy 3G or something.

A few weeks back, one of my friends told me about the school's hidden SSID, which was (schooldistrictname)_WIFI
I connected with my ipod touch 4G
There was no security, but there was a login. I just used my regular school username and password and was logged in. I thought this was allowed since it was our own username access. I was happily using the wifi to check my email, go on the internet etc. A week ago, The wifi wouldn't show up and when i typed in the SSID it would connect and after about 30 seconds show 3 bars but i can't access anything(safari is not connected to the internet). The thing is, this happens to whatever username passwrod combo I use, including other people's, common ones(library login) etc. Also, many other people can still access the internet with their own usernames, on ipods too. I'm thinking the school blocked my MAC address or something, is that possible? and what can I do about it?

also theres a another called (schooldistricname)_STUDENT
no security
single password including letters and numbers
this also shows 3 bars but doesn't connect
Any help is appreciated

I wonder -- if the school knows so little about wireless security as to imagine a hidden SSID (which can be discovered with ease and causes other problems anyway) was a substitute for encryption would they know how to use Access List ?
