Is 2.2 GHz a decent processer speed?

I'm looking at some laptops on Newegg. I found one that I liked, so I started looking at it. It seems pretty good. About the only thing I'm never sure on is processor speeds. Is 2.2 GHz good for gaming? *sigh* I seriously need to figure this stuff out so I don't have to keep asking :|

What make/model of laptop are you looking at? The speed of the CPU is only one factor. The architecture (Intel vs. AMD) is one factor, as is the GPU on the laptop. Please clarify.

Not all Ghz are created equal. (Some CPU's get more done per clock cycle than other CPU's)

That system will play most games on low settings and is fairly weak overall. So if gaming is your primary use for the system, it is not a good choice.

It is, however, good for general use (office apps, web browsing, etc).

So, how do you intend to use the system?

Well, it isn't going to be mainly used for gaming. It probably would be used mostly for things like YouTube, Facebook, etc.
But, I would like to play some of my games on it, eg: Minecraft, Amnesia, Sims, etc.

It could play minecraft and sims at low to medium probably, not sure on amnesia.

No trouble at all. It should be okay for the uses you listed. Just play on low graphics settings and you'll be okay.

It is a decent buy for general use.
