Is a cheap 4K TV worth getting?

I want a TV that's around 50 inches or so and I'd like to spend $400 or less.

Here's a couple of TV's that I've came across and am considering buying. Feel free to show me any better deals you can find.

Sceptre U505CV-UMC 49" 4K Ultra HD 2160p 120Hz LED HDTV (4K x 2K) from Walmart. The link is here. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sceptre-U505CV-UMC-49-4K-Ultra-HD-2160p-120Hz-LED-HDTV-4K-x-2K/46784936

TCL 48FS3700 48-Inch 1080p Roku Smart LED TV (2015 Model) http://www.amazon.com/TCL-48FS3700-48-Inch-1080p-Smart/dp/B00SG473MK

I like the brand TCL. I have a TCL TV already and it's great. I also love that the TCL TV has Roku built in. I'm not sure about Sceptre though because I've never saw one or owned one. The Sceptre is a 4K TV but I'm not sure if a cheap 4K TV is worth getting. I'd say that a 1080p TV at $400 probably has better picture quality than a $380 4K TV but then again that's just a guess.

If I do get a 4K TV I'm probably going to want another GTX 970 at the very least. So I'll have to spend another $300 and I don't really want to do that right now but at the same time I kind of would like to have 4K anyway. I plan on doing some PC gaming on the TV.

Solution
4k content is very limited. Even the upgrade to HD 1080p isn't standard for cable. DVD's are still 480i and Blu-ray is 1080p. So what you get out of a 4k TV currently is upscaled and basically makes everything look 'soap opera ish' unless it actually is 4k.

Pretty much a waste of money for such low-end units whose reliability is questionable. Stick with a good 1080p Smart TV.

You're better off getting the 1080p TV, you know 4K isn't really 'big' to me anyway.

1080p looks fine and don't see a reason to upgrade to 4K (unless you have money) since it's not exactly going to change your experience when watching a show (unless it's a nature show).

I purchased the TV on December 1st before I got these replies. I got the cheap 4K TV and boy oh boy I'm glad I did. The picture quality is great. It's visibly better than 1080p especially in PC games. I have a GTX 1080 now and it runs most games pretty well at 4K. I have to adjust the settings to get a good smooth 60fps but it looks and plays great. Some games I can max out at 4K and get 60fps. I haven't watched any movies in 4K yet because I don't have a UHD bluray player or any other type of 4K streaming device but I did order me a Roku 4 and I upgraded my netflix to the 4K 4 screen plan. On Tuesday I'll be watching Netflix in 4K. It's been 9 months now and the TV is great. Everybody talks about how good the picture looks when they see it. I'm very happy and pleasantly surprised.
