hey all, i see this fan/hs is rated for athlons all the way up to 3000 plus. but will the CoolerMaster Aero 7+ work/fit/keep my barton 2500+ cooler? especially if i wanna Overclock down the road? thx,jw

It's a very bad product for its cost, it's not much better than stock. For about the same price you could take a look at Thermaltake SK7, Thermaltake Volcano 12, and a variety of products. Coolermaster doesn't have a good cooler for socket A that's worth the money.

-AMD Athlon64 3200+@2300mhz -GAK8N -3x512 Hynix PC3200 ram@192mhz 2.5-3-3-7 -Albatron 5900PV @ 560/1000 -SB Audigy -Adaptec 1210SA Raid -2x120G Seagate SATA150 7200.7 Raid0 -Enermax 460watt psu

bloody cheap my a$$, honestly the fan pushes no airflow, compared to my old oldie swiftech MCX462+ it was like 20C more under hvy overclocking load.

A lot of people are buying those since they look nice, but honestly, crappy performance. Wusy I would know, since i've built about 3 comps with those coolers, and overclocking+noise are simply dissapointing.

no no no, i don't buy crap cause it looks cool. i'm an old fart,i don't care what it looks like. i just wanna know if it'll handle the OC needs of my barton---thats all!

thx for the responses, keep'em coming. i haven't un-boxed it yet.jw

See if you could get a Thermalright SK7 with Smart Case Fan 2, what would be the price difference for you?

It doesn't, the heatsink looks absolutely ugly after about 10-12 months. The other problem with the Thermalright and Thermaltake heatsink, is that micro fins, requires frequent cleaning, compressed air'll do. Or you could use filters for your intake fans.

Check out the Vantec Aeroflow. They are highly recommended at some of OC sites. Inexpensive as well. I got mine a little while ago, but haven't yet installed (I'm a tax CPA, so it'll be soon now that 4/15 has passed).

I'm impresssed with the finish on the copper core, no lapping needed. Smooth as glass.
