I currently play cod warzone at 1080p ultra and am experiencing FPS drops to 40. Is a CPU upgrade going to fix the issue or am I looking at a completely new build with GPU?
I currently have an old 2700k @ 4.8ghz.

Solution
If you did a CPU upgrade, it'd have to be something with at least a 4th Gen Intel processor but given that it's 2025 and that Windows 10 support is winding to a close towards the end of this year, you'd be best served by going with a 8th/9th Gen Intel processor or Ryzen 5 3600 as a cheap option(if you can come across a bundle).

Out of curiosity, is the issue you speak of confined to one game title? I noticed you've mentioned part of your specs in your sig space. We advise users to state their specs int he thread's body since sig space specs can and will change over time. When that happens it can and will render this thread and it's suggestions moot to the end user in the same boat as you're in now.

Please list the specs to your build...

Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

If you’re on a budget, I’d be willing to guess you could pick up a cheap b450 amd board and say a ryzen 5 3600 or 5500 or something in that range cheap. DDR 4 is dirt cheap right now.

For example

Just done for examples but you can see for about 200 you could be into a newer platform. If you’ve got the money though an am5 setup wouldn’t be a bad idea though so you’d have some longevity for upgrading the cpu and gpu further.
