Hi
I am looking to buy a used pc in Australia and I found one for 500 Aud, and it has a fx 6300. I was wondering if it would be good still. By the way it had a gtx 970 4gb 8gb ram 1tb hdd and don't know motherboard.
So the question is, is the fx 6300 still good for gaming

Solution
Dpends on the game, in older not very cpu intensvie titles it should work fine, However in newer cpu intensive titles it will struggle. What games do you plan to play? I linked a fallout 4 benchmark below they are using a gtx 1080, it does not include the 6300, but I would expect the 6300 to perfom slightly worse than the fx 8320e in the benchmark.

The reason the 6300 isn't included is because it CANNOT play the game period, and even the makers of the game inform you the hardware itself isn't capable to play the game (get it to load / past 1-5FPS). 6300s died out back in 2013 when BF4 came out and showed the old 6300s weren't capable anymore. Yes you can play 2012 and older titles just fine, but if you want to play anything 2013 and beyond, it isn't capable. Simply put.

That is just not true. If the A10 7870k can play fallout 4 the fx 6300 can, at much better than 1-5 fps. A 6300 can play bf4 just fine, this bench is not how I would do a cpu benchmark but it shows the fx 6300 and lesser processors are cpable of playing bf4 at respetable framerates . I dont think its a very good processor for 2017 but it is MUCH better than you are making it out to be.

i had a system with amd fx 6300 and geforce gtx 1050,played battlefield on 60 fps on 1920x1080 medium settings.
im not trying to start a fight or anything but saying that fx6300 only can push out 5 fps in games like that is a joke

If you have 500 now, just keep saving. You're well on your way to being able to afford a good mid-range system,
