so im browsing newegg tonight and i come across a WINTEC AMPO 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 for 88 dollars....

1st off is this any good? and if yes is a 1gig stick better than a dual channel 1 gig?

thanks in advance

The performance of two 512 mb sticks should be higher in dual channel mode (128 bit interface 64x2), than 1 gb stick in single channel mode (64 bit interface). The difference in higher latency in dual channel mode wouldn't be enough to make it perform below single channel mode. If I were in your position, and if it could be afforded, go with two sticks of 1 gb memory. There's nothing wrong with purchasing value ram, just make sure that it'll work with your motherboard.

This is mostly true (I use Kingston value ram myself). The only problem with value ram is it can be terrible for overclocking and some cheaper brands are just awful. Buyer beware.

The improvement in dual-channel can only be detected by benchmarks, nothing youll notice.
Dont count on them for overclocking at all. The lack of timings and voltage in the specs simply puts them out of the question.
