Is AMD Athlon II the same as normal Athlon [I]?

Because the motherboard I'm looking at says the Athlon II 760K works, it has the same part number as a normal Athlon I. But it just says Athlon II, will a normal athlon still work? I mean they have the same part number... http://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/FM2A78M-HD+/index.asp?cat=CPU

It shouldn't matter as long as it's an FM2 socket on the motherboard.

Athlon II is a revamp of the Athlon 64 architecture of socket 939 and older. Since 940/AM2, all Athlons are Athlon II's. My guess is a typo somewhere. It will work as long as the socket is correct. May have to update the Bios though.

Edit: There was an "Athlon" before Athlon II, but Athlon II was the same CPU, but rebranded when AMD introduced the DDR3 controller on the chip for AM2+.

Edit 2: All FM2 Athlons are II's, but unlike the A series they don't have built-in GPUs. You'll have to get a card if you don't have one already.
