Is an older MacBook Pro still a good computer?

I am interested in getting an older 2007 MacBook Pro off of eBay. It has a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 1 GB of RAM. My major concern is with the introduction of tablets and ultrabooks since 2007, it would be extremely outdated. I still believe it would run circles around a tablet in terms of processing power, but does that even matter anymore? Should I take the plunge and buy it for the heck of it?

It also depends if you can get it for a decent price. The industry has shown that most "older" Mac computers tend to be overpriced. You really should weigh the pros vs. cons of having an older Mac or a newer PC for the amount of money.

Thanks for the reply. I think I am going to go with the MacBook Pro. I can get it for $200 which is almost too good to pass up.
