I'm encoding/converting videos and it says theres 9 hours left
(I'm converting 3 video movie from 1080p to 720p mp4)
The CPU usage is 55-65%...

and I might want to do this every night for the next few weeks
(cuz i'm running out of hard drive space LOL)

Would it be bad? My Laptop is not so bad...
2010 i5 processor/4gb ram

My laptop Isn't that hot after converting for 15 minute
the fan isn't that loud and yeah....

I'm doing this over night so I'm not using any other applications ^_^

If its not overheating you shouldnt be having any problems. You can download a monitoring program like HWmonitor and leave it converting for the night and after that check your peak temps. 😉

You shouldn't have any problems especially at 60% usage.

You might want to check into other transcode programs or play with some settings though. You could probably cut that time to 6 hrs if you were using 100% CPU.

Or you could spend $50 on an external drive and solve both worries.

As long as the PC is not overheating.

I think the longest stretch of time I was encoding video was around 60 hours straight with my PC.

Edit:

I just noticed you are encoding with a laptop. For prolonged encoding I suggest buying a laptop cooler since a laptop has limited cooling capabilities.

Good plan. Extra cooling never hurts in the long run.
