Hi guys,
This is my first post, and I was wondering if any of you tech heads could tell me if Geil RAM is any good? Primarily their DDR2 800MHz (PC6400) CL 3 stuff.
I'm putting together a new system:
E6600
Abit AB9 Pro
8800GTX

but I'm stuck on what RAM to buy... I really want something that can be overclocked reasonably well.

Any help would be greatfully recieved 😀

Geil is top notch, had really good experience in the past.

From this ramlist

PC6400 Ultra 800+ 3.0-3-3-8 @ 1.8~2.3V GX21GB6400PDC / 22GB6400PDC

Use: Micron D9GMH (B6-3)

Good stuff

Whats the price on these?

Yes,absolutely. I´ve been using it for years without any problems in my own pc. My brother has used it for overclocking, and it was good.
never done it myself,though.

Thats good to hear...

£174 for one Gig or £318 for two
It seems quite expensive compared to the rest, but its the only CL 3 DDR2 RAM that I have seen on the market.

Just as a side note, you won't likely benefit all that much from a Cas 3 vs Cas4 expect for overclocking headroom. You may be paying a significant premium not for that much of improvement!

Something to keep in mind, the Cl4 DDR800 is pretty good to and should be based on the same memory chip.

Nothing wrong but something like 1% of performance might not be worth a couple hundred bucks!

Good point well made :) .
I would however be looking at overclocking (if not straight away) my PC. I see this as a cheaper way of upgrading my system a year down the line.
