IS gtx 1080 an overkill for FHD?

I'm a really maximalist person, and stuck between 1070 Ti and 1080 for 1080P 75Hz.
I know this is the best place to have my brain stimulated.
Second-hand only I am thinking about and I recently found a 1070 Ti Evga SC for 392 $ in my currency, which is a pretty good price here and it has 2 more years of warranty. A second hand 1080 non-crap version would cost atleast a hando bucks more, and most likely have less warranty. Is 1070 Ti ugprade from my previous 970 well enough ? RTX 2060 are pretty expensive and the non crappy versions aren't even out yet and they cost like a 1080 second hand. Only good versions being available are the Strix for like 550$ and the EVGA XC for 510$

1070 ti is basically same performance as the 1080 with a small OC, so if there isnt much difference in price get the 1070 ti and give it a small OC.

I wouldnt say its overkill, just means you can run higher settings than you would at higher resolutions.

Any kind of watercooling solutions wouldn't fit my RIG probably, and I have to upgrade my RAM and PSU aswell. Later on in a few months time I might upgrade to 1080 from an 1070 Ti if I find it needed. Right know I'm running the superior iGPU of intel so.

I would stick with a 1070Ti then, it has 2 years of warranty, if I am really in need of those 10 more fps, I will sell it and buy a 1080, atm 1070 TI for that price and EVGA SC edition is a really good one imo for a 100$ less, is a bargain in Hungary

You dont need to sell it and get a 1080, they are so close in performance you can spend like 2 minutes in afterburner doing a small overclock. Bam you have 1080 performance.

ATM Im considering an almost Brand new MSI Sea Hawk X for a very good price only problem being is the lack of warranty compared to the 1070 Ti s. What would you suggest? I love that Sea Hawk card but if something happens and im outta warranty im screwed basically.
