Wait what? Laser printer cartridge? Hooked up to multiple cell phones?
How could that not look suspicious in the first place?

How about actually investigating anything that looks like a bomb instead?
I mean, if they were able to find out it was supposed to be a bomb, how come they didn't elaborate on that theory in the first place before putting it on the plane?

This whole deal just sounds fishy to me, someone must have noticed this out of place plastic box with phones connected to it. Investigate the airport security, it's obvious they had someone on the inside.

Doesn't inflight wi-fi require an authentication or a "login"? thus kinda making scripted or pre=programmed devices innefective because most airlines are not true "free open-wifi"

Also cell phone reception at 28,000ft 700mph is very difficult and lame you are so far away from a tower and your switching towers almost every 30 seconds. its lame and unreliable

-------
A true technologist would use either a Satellite phone, or a decent GPS (programmed for altitude / location) or a simple long timer (6 hour flight, set the timer for 3 hours)

Actually, if a terrorist was interested in making the biggest commotion he could use a double trigger pressure-sensitive setup that enables the trigger when the plain departs and trips the trigger when it comes in for a landing.

Or they could just keep "threatening" things until we're a complete police state, we all rebel against it, cause a civil war of sorts, and destroy ourselves.

Terrorists are winning.

[citation][nom]blarghhhhhhh[/nom]Everyone is forgetting rule #1. A wifi will need authentication before it connects to the access point. I don't know about you, but the "wifi trigger" will first need to get internet access, instead of just being stuck at the proxy server prompt... "Enter your credit card info here:".Capitalism foils all the best plans. 😛[/citation]
Never heard of scripting? One can even have the script wait for a given prompt on a web page.

And for the posts that say you need a CC, they can use a stolen CC number or get a real prepaid card using someone's stolen Identity, etc and have the script spit it out at the right time. Or better yet, create an account previous to the flight that has a CC tied to it or prepay a day, month, etc and the script spits out the login for that acct.

First thing that needs to be done to WIN, is to remove the useless and unconstitutional pat downs and nakid body scans at the airport. Then require the airlines to take some sort of responsibility to passengers again instead of treating them like cargo. Finally, if a plane full of grown people want to sit buy and watch five terrorists take over their plane. Then calmly sit back for a ride and fly into a building... then let them.

Besides, what is the point of cutting off wifi. The thing with something as big as a printer is that it sets up it's own wifi network. The guy sitting in coach can still blow everyone to bits reguardless of if he has internet access. Fix this by not carrying mail on a passenger plane. You make me pay for a check in bag you better not fill the space my bag used to go with a bomb.

The phones in the printer pictures appeared to not accept sim cards. Probably because CDMA phones are popular as prepaid phones in the states. They should instead be asking where was the phone puchased? Was it purchased in the states, loaded with time, and then mailed to yemin. Who mailed it? Who purchased the airtime? How would the terrorist know when it was in range and inside a plane in the US? I think it is a little rush for everyone to assume the plane was the target and not the lobby of the churches the printers were sent to. Example, you do get an email when your package arrives from UPS. One thing is for sure you know exactly where it is at that moment no matter how it got there.
