I can run Far Cry 4 with all the settings up but Batman Arkham Knight will not allow me to use any NVIDIA Game work settings at all. So since NVIDIA is going to be controlling almost every good game coming out from now on should i make the switch to the green team? I already asked about should i CF another 290 or get a 980 so i am defiantly stuck on getting the EVGA GTX 980 hydro watercooler if NVIDIA is controlling all these games from here on out. I know AMD is dead but from how cheap and good performing some of their cards are i just love the red team due to that.

Solution
AMD video cards run almost all games nicely.
Nvidia video cards run almost all games nicely.

Some games run better on the other companies cards. Its always been that way, and probably always will be.

in one alpha game that was sponsored by AMD (a game engine that build from the ground up to take advantage of GCN architecture). see what happen later in nvidia sponsored game that use FL 12_1 heavily and see how that's going to turn out for AMD gpu that lack the hardware needed for FL 12_1. forget about poor performance they might as well not capable of running the game using the feature at all.

not entirely. if DX12 is carbon copy of Mantle then how can AMD hardware lack the hardware needed for FL 12_1?

so Stardock is triple A publisher now?

nvidia ahead of AMD in DX11? not really. they just decided to use all DX11 feature unlike AMD. how did nvidia able to close their dx11 performance to AMD mantle? it is by using the feature that deem 'broken' by AMD. you should aware by now that for games there is no DX12 or Mantle option AMD DX11 performance are on par with nvidia. but in Ashes of Singularity Fury X look like a joke compared to 980Ti in DX11. why is that?

i see there is a lot of misinformation when it comes to PhysX. some take it as graphic effect that only usable with the presence of nvidia gpu while in fact PhysX is a complete Physic engine solution like havok was. and there are people that assuming Havok as the only Physic engine exist for game engine. in their view when nvidia gpu not present the game will revert to havok to process in game physic calculation

also there is this misconception that when nvidia gpu not available all the physx effect will be done on cpu. this actually not the case in all games that featuring gpu accelerated PhysX except Borderlands 2. go play Arkham Asylum and Arkham City using both nvidia and AMD gpu. gpu accelerated stuff can't be activated with AMD gpu AT ALL. now PhysX also part of Gameworks. so while stuff like HBAO+ can be run on AMD GPU stuff like GPU accelerated PhysX still exclusive to nvidia gpu.

good thing is UE4 comes with PhysX 3 by default.

Soooooooo......................Does this mean there is a way i can unlock the NVIDIA Gamework settings so i wont need to buy my 980Ti? If not i am throwing my R9 290 away and buying it lol. Because i keep hearing that many future games that have NVIDIA Gameworks or should i say NVIDIA Shitworks will be locked out for all AMD users just like how Batman Arkham Knight is. If you can find a way to unlock the NVIDIA Gameworks for AMD users i freakin send ya $20 in the mail, lol.

no it does not. AMD did not do the job for nvidia. nvidia did the optimization themselves. just quite lucky for nvidia that tressfx able to work just fine with their architecture. if turns out to be like forward+ (global illumination tech use in dirt showdown) then it will be extremely hard for nvidia to optimize tressfx performance.

But then Nvidia creates HairWorks and only optimized it for Maxwell GPU's. I have a GTX 770. It is not even optimized for the 700 series at all.

not necessarily the case. hairworks exist even before nvidia launch maxwell (used in Call of Duty Ghost for example). just that the hairworks setting used in the witcher 3 are quite extreme to the point key improvement in maxwell (like tessellation performance) show it's strength against kepler. is that right to do or not is open for another debate to discuss.

you keep repeating that AMD is locked out. AMD is not locked out of anything, and never has been.

depends. for example gpu accelerated PhysX. the feature often exclusive to nvidia gpu only. and as i said in my previous post the exception was Borderlands 2 where they can run those effect on CPU if you have AMD gpu. and with PhysX 3 things are changing to direction most people not going to expect. in the witcher 3 nvidia specifically mention there is no gpu PhysX in use. those that tried to run the game using dedicated PhysX card can see there is no activity with their dedicated PhysX card when running the witcher 3.

ust remember, nobody has a lock on anything. No game company wants their game to only play on one companies hardware. They would lose sales if that were to happen. So even when they work with Nvidia or AMD on a title, they still want everyone to be able to buy and play their game. That is how they make money.

yes you can run the game on any hardware but it doesn't mean you can run every feature that come with the game. the various game using gpu PhysX and AMD Mantle is proof to that.

Gameworks cover a lot of visual feature from nvidia. some stuff that specifically needing nvidia hardware will always be nvidia exclusive(TXAA, gpu PhysX to name a few) . it was that simple.

How come Arkham Knight is the first and only game to block a few Gamework settings on AMD ANNND NVIDIA cards because it is even blocked for NVIDIA users also.

I'd guess those features are causing problems that the dev team can't fix quickly, so they're just going to lock them out so they can get to doing stuff that makes their publisher money eg. churning out more DLC or making the next game.

1.Interactive Smoke and fog (I can use this setting NO)
2.Interactive Paper Debris (I can use this setting NO)
3.Enhanced Rain (I can use this setting YES)
4.Enhanced Lighting (I can use this setting YES)

Those are the only 4 Gamework settings on the game and i can only use 3 of them and a GTX 980 Ti is the same.

Patch, What patch? You mean the crappy Arkham Knight update they released that makes the game run even worse? If so than no. I know AMD released a new 15.8 driver that bricks GTAV down to 20FPS from what i heard and from experience even on a Fury X so i went back to the older driver so i can run my games stable and not at 20 or less FPS.
