Is it necessary to OC a CPU that's already fast enough?

I have a 3570k, with a motherboard capable of overclocking it, however, I feel that it's already fast enough for me so I don't bother with it (my friend sold me his build for $400 which was a good deal).

Solution
Overclocking has several motives behind it
In order of I feel the necessity,
You can OC to eliminate bottlenecks due to a slower processor, such as I did with my 965 and 760.
Next is to squeeze that little extra bit of performance out of the component for some easy labor (Maybe 1 FPS, make take 20 seconds off a render time, maybe more of each).
Then there are the people that do it just for the speeds and namesake.

My bad, I should have restated my question, I meant to ask why do some people find it necessary to overclock, i'm not hating on OCing and i'm capable of doing it but don't feel the need. Just curiosity 😛

Consider it as a hobby/interest for people. Some people may want to learn to overclock so they know how. Some feels it makes their pc faster (entirely subjective on how much faster). Some overclock so it helps with their productivity applications such as video editing etc.
