Hey, I'm making my first build and am a bit paranoid about the connections.

I have my PC is in the bios right now doing a POST test but the Kraken x63 display and accompanying Aer RGB 2 140mm radiator fans don't light up at all. No RGB showing ?

is this normal or have I done something wrong?

Solution
The rad fans each have TWO connection ports in their frames. The are marked In and Out. Refer to the instruction sheet for the set. Using the cables supplied you connect the fans in a "daisy chain" system. In that, only the first fan of the group is connected by a cable (Item C) to the Hue 2 Controller (Item B) box that came with them. From then on you use another cable (Item F) to connect from the OUT of one fan to the IN if the next.

The Controller Box requires two additional connections. Item D connects from a port to a Molex 4-pin power output from the PSU. Item E connects from a micro USB port to a mobo USB2 header. These two provide to the Controller box the power for fan motors and lights, AND the the ability to communicate with...

These two provide to the Controller box the power for fan motors and lights, AND the the ability to communicate with the mobo for instructions. Those instructions come from a software utility, CAM, that you install and run under your OS AFTER you have installed your Windows OS. Until that is done, the fans will only perform basic functions by default (such as running the motors for cooling). After you are running CAM you can configure details of both motors and lights in those units and they will work.

Hey Paperdoc,

Thanks alot for the very detailed explanation on how the connections work. After reading your comment and checking my system I should have them connected correctly.

If what you are saying is right then I'll just have to finish my build and install the CAM software for them to work. No use worrying about it not having rgb when I'm only halfway through the build.

Cheers!
