[SOLVED] Is it normal for the CPU temperature to jump up and down for 8-10 degrees within seconds?

I am using afterburner to monitor temperatures, but I notice my CPU temperature is all over the place, when idle, my GPU is 40-50C and the readings are like 40 42 40 43 45 47, etc.

But my CPU temperature on the other hand, it goes 40 48 42 50 52 42, etc. When gaming my GPU goes 70-75 and jumps 2-3 degrees every update, but my CPU is like changing up to 8-10 degrees per update. It jumps to like 82 and then next reading instantly go back to 72 or something.

Is it normal for temperature to jump that drastically with in seconds?

Yes it is usually normal, specially with Intel chips. This is due to wide variety of reasons. Sometimes there is sudden load due to high thread usage by certain application. Sometimes due to silicon or thermal difference. I wouldn't read too much into it unless there is a high variance beyond 25-30 deg.

So the cooling is enough to bring it down by 10 degrees in a second? I can at least get the jump up, but the cooldown seems insane to me or maybe this is why cooling is costing their price?

But its also about your cpu cores managing and distributing work loads in a quick and efficient manner.
