Question Is it normal to have to lift the GPU very slightly for the support bracket to fit ?

Hey. I got a ROG Astral 5080 yesterday and I am having no issues with it at all. I got all the rops and everything. Now, the Asus support bracket I got to counteract GPU sag was too tall to begin with, so I removed the extender and I am just using the base, but I still have to lift the GPU slightly to make it fit.
Is this normal and it just counteracts the sagging or is this going to stress the GPU in the long term?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Did you place that GPU support bracket to the left of the GPU near the PCIe expansion slots to see if the height is the same towards the right of the GPU? if the height isn't the same, then you're adding undue stress to the PCIe slot on the motherboard.

If the right side of the GPU(in your video) is slanting slightly but the GPU support levels it out to the same highest as the left side of the GPU, then you're good to lift the GPU. If there's a height discrepancy, then as mentioned prior, you're adding undue stress to the slot(and possibly the card).

Use a steel edge ruler and see if it's level.

Yeah I think you want to be careful of forcing any bending on the card as that stress always lands on the weakest points like solder points. If it is level like mentioned above, then you are adding resistance to the downward bend caused by weight, and you should be ok.

Seems to me that the very reason for a support bracket is demonstrated well in the video by having to lift up slightly the sagging GPU to fit that support bracket. Looks just fine to me. You could otherwise lay the pc on its back so the mobo is laying flat so the GPU doesnt have any gravity trying to make it sag and then fit the support bracket.
