[SOLVED] Is it possible to have 1 monitor plugged into motherboard and 1 into GPU

my main monitor is plugged into my GPU with a HDMI cable, and my second monitor is plugged into my motherboard with a VGA cable because my GPU doesnt have a VGA port and i cant get an adapter at the moment, but my second monitor, the one connected to the motherboard does not work, it realises its plugged in and its on the right output but its just a black screen and i dont know how to fix it.

when gpu is on it usualy cut the onboard acces name and model of both monitors and the gpu .

CPU is i7-4790
GPU geforce 660ti
motherboard is ASUS H81-Gamer
main monitor is Dell SE2149H
second monitor is Samsung S20D300HY (the one thats not working)

I see so this is an issue of dual monitor. Usually your motherboard won't allow you to do that and you'll receive a no signal screen. What you can is, you're right buy another cable for the available port and the monitor port you are using. For me I use VGA and DVI at the same time. Another solution is to buy an adapter if you have incompatibility issue.
