Question Is it possible to upgrade CPU & Motherboard in the same case?

I feel like this question is kind of dumb.
So i plan on upgrading my processor & motherboard but i am going from Intel to AMD. I plan on keeping the case, fans, powersupply, storage, graphics card. Basically everything BUT the Cpu, motherboard, ram and cpu cooler.
I went with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
With a Phantom spirit 120 EVO cpu cooler & a Gigabyte X870 gaming wifi6 mobo & TeamGroup CL30 DDR5 32GB. The power supply would be enough it is a Corsair HX series 1200W 80plus platinum. My cpu is just not keeping up with my RX 9070 XT. When i upgraded my 3090 Ti (it had display issues). I definitely noticed a performance loss especially with a PCIE-x16 gen 3 motherboard. I’m just hoping that it would be an easy swap and i don’t have to worry about the OS or anything else.
Would i be okay just taking apart the old cpu, motherboard, ram, & aio cooler and replacing the intel with amd?

Was this a custom built pc? If so then usually things are pretty standardized. Now if you’re talking about like a prebuilt dell for example then that’s another story.

Yes 100% custom built, i picked out all the parts back in 2020 took all the parts to a local pc shop and they put it together for me. The only thing i couldn’t put together are all the cables on the motherboard, especially the “front io” pins on the bottom right. But theres plenty of youtube videos if anything. So it is possible?

If your case is a mid-tower or a full-tower then there's no problem. I did this kind of updates plenty of times with the same case. I mean, they don't sell AMD and Intel cases, they are all good no matter which CPU you have, as long as it's big enough for your new motherboard (at least mid-tower for an ATX board).

About the storage, since you switch from Intel to AMD you might want to reinstall Windows on your system drive. It may work to just put the drive on the new board and boot with your old installation, but to avoid problems and make sure you get optimum performance a fresh install is recommended.

Okay sounds good thank you! And yes its a full tower and the motherboard ofc is ATX.
So lets say i put everything together and turn it on and it boots up. You are saying that regardless when it boots up i should do a windows reinstall? I’m guessing thats in the settings, i can’t remember but is it a “reset this pc” or different option.
